Jim, CEO

Jim Zaorski

CEO

Jim has been CEO of Sequoia since its founding in 1985. He has helped grow Sequoia Retail Systems from a two person company making cables in his garage to its present scope of hundreds of customers.

He has served on several industry committees and is a frequent speaker on technology related issues at industry conferences.

Jim is focused on listening to great customers and managing wonderful employees. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from MIT and a law degree from Rutgers-Camden.

Rick, Director Customer Support

John Diaz

VP,
Business Development

John serves as Sequoia’s Vice President of Business Development and is responsible for managing key vendor relationships and the company’s expansion into new markets including auxiliary services.

Since 2003, John has overseen Sequoia’s launch of numerous products for the higher education market including self-service kiosk, eCommerce and mobile solutions that integrate with the company’s core point-of-sale system technology.

Prior to joining Sequoia, John served as a director in the Auxiliary Services division of Duke University where he led the operation and expansion of the school’s enterprise wide campus card program.

John has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Clemson University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Duke University.

Kinnar, VP Engineering

Rick Hill

Client Services

Rick is responsible for day to day customer operations, including customer service, technical support, and field services. Prior to joining Sequoia in 2006, Rick spent the previous 16 years in the college bookstore industry, starting as a temp worker and leaving as the general manager of a chain of private bookstores.

Rick's passion for analysis and his industry knowledge have enabled him to bring new measures to Sequoia's Client Services department. Rick loves the interaction with customers and leads the Client Services group to delivering outstanding service.

Kinnar, VP Engineering

Kinnar Vora

VP, Engineering

Kinnar Vora serves as the VP of Engineering at Sequoia Retail Systems and brings in-depth experience building SaaS-based applications in an agile and iterative way. His experience spans across working with teams in the United States as well as offshore teams in India, China and Bangladesh.

Kinnar started his career in consulting working for Tata Consultancy Services delivering projects for clients like NASDAQ and LifeScan. He then joined a Bay Area startup, StarCite, where he was responsible for their attendee management product.

Kinnar lives in San Jose with his wife and son. He follows NFL football, likes running and occasionally plays tennis and cricket.

Kinnar earned his Bachelors in Engineering and Diploma in Business Management in his native country, India.

Karla, Accounting Director

Karla Rees

Accounting Director

Karla joined Sequoia Retail Systems in 2011 as the Accounting Director. In the last 15 years, she has developed experience in accounting for both public and private companies ranging across medical devices, optical networks, internet services, and wholesale distribution.

Karla graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.

In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, running, hiking and a good Sudoku puzzle.
