PCPOS 3
PCPOS 3 - Now Available!
We are proud to announce the release of PCPOS 3, the latest update to the SCS suite of applications.
PCPOS 3 is designed to remove all credit card handling from your PCPOS installation,
giving your customers industry-leading credit card security, and making your own security audits a breeze.
To enable this new level of security, we have set up a partnership with VeriFone that will allow
for replacing the credit card data on your system with secure 'tokens' that can only be used by you.
The goal of this webpage is to inform you about the new platform, assist you in your preparation for PCPOS 3, and answer some
routine questions about the new system. If you have any questions, concerns, or think we are missing something, please contact me
by e-mail at sroza@sequoiars.com, or call me directly.
How To prepare for PCPOS 3
There are several steps you will need to take in order to prepare for PCPOS 3.
- Procure A New Terminal ID: Much like the previous transition to ePOS 5, a new Terminal ID will be required in order to
properly transition you from one system to another without impacting your current operation.
- Fill Out A Verifone Merchant Application: Below are links to the Merchant Applications for all of Sequoia's supported
merchant card providers.

- Fax Your Application To Sequoia Support: Please fill the applications out in full and then fax to 650-641-8785
when complete.
- Request Your Upgrade: Open a support ticket on our website, or call us at 1-800-967-5490, option 2, and tell us you

Procuring A New Terminal ID(TID)
When transitioning from Sequoia's traditional credit products (SCS/Credit Partner/Wireless Partner 3.x), to our next-generation
of products supporting the Verifone PAYware Connect credit platform, it is generally necessary to request additional terminal IDs
or merchant accounts. This is done to ensure that your regular operations will not be impacted during your transition. I have
provided a document that will assist you with discussing the topic with your bank representative.

Network Considerations
There are significant differences in how the PCPOS platform processes credit card authorizations.
PCPOS 2.70 and below uses your SCS server as a credit card gateway to obtain authorizations. PCPOS 3 introduces a new process in
which your PCPOS registers send credit card authorization requests directly to the Verifone PAYWare Connect gateway
over an SSL connection. Many locations will need to review network architecture with local IT staff to ensure that the registers
can access the internet.

FAQ
What has changed in PCPOS 3.2?
The major change to PCPOS in version 3 is the way in which credit card transactions are processed. PCPOS 3 will employ the use of tokens rather than credit card numbers, making this version the most secure version of PCPOS to date. Please see the release notes for more information about the exciting new features in PCPOS 3.2.0.
In addition to the added security provided with PCPOS 3, all credit card settlement reports will now be available via the VeriFone PAYware Connect Merchant Console.
What is a token?
A token is a unique transaction ID record that replaces your customer’s credit card number. The token is associated with a specific PCPOS transaction and can only be used with the VeriFone payment gateway. The token will be used to process sales and refunds to your customers.
What do I need to do to create a VeriFone Account?
Sequoia Retail Systems will create your Merchant Account for you in VeriFone’s Reseller Console. Sequoia can start creating your account as soon as we receive your VeriFone Processor Worksheet. You may download the form by clicking here [insert hyperlink].
NOTE:Please be sure to contact your bank and request an additional terminal number on your merchant account for this transition. Use of the same terminal number in parallel with your existing POS terminal number may lead to settlement issues.
Will there be any costs associated with VeriFone?
Yes. There is a one-time setup fee for creating the VeriFone Merchant Account as well as monthly fees for processing transactions via the VeriFone payment gateway. Monthly VeriFone fees are determined by average monthly credit and debit card volume. Please contact your sales representative if you have specific questions about fees or have questions about collecting this information.
When do I need to upgrade to PCPOS 3.2?
The new PCI requirements mandate that all merchants must use PA-DSS certified payment applications by July, 1 2010. Not using PA-DSS certified payment applications may result in a failure to pass your PCI audit.
What happens if I don’t upgrade by the deadline?
Those PCPOS customers that have not upgraded by 7/1/10 may be in jeopardy of not passing your PCI audit. Please consult with your local PCI auditing resource to discuss the impact this might have on your operations. Failure to do so may result in increased credit card processing fees, or penalties up to and including termination of your merchant card processor agreement. Please contact us today to ensure that you are transitioned to PCPOS3 before it is too late!
