Ordering

Day-to-day ordering needs to be accurate and efficient but still stay flexible enough to allow you to make the best decisions for your store. Our Textbook Ordering module offers the options you need to ensure ordering catered to your specific needs. In addition to Cascade, Wholesaler and Publisher/Distributor ordering, our Textbook Ordering module includes the following features:
  • Order quantities can be computed automatically based on want quantities per course, or entered manually
  • All pertinent information necessary for ordering is combined in a single window, including historical order, sales and buyback information
  • Books requiring attention are flagged for review
  • Can define an "Ordering Grade" for a book, which determines the type of company the book can be ordered from (Wholesales, Publishers, Distributors)
  • Ability to check real-time stock availability from several distributors through Bowker internet link
  • User-defined numbering methods for purchase orders

Cascade Ordering™

Cascade Ordering™ allows the capability to send textbook orders to several different wholesalers with a single click. This makes ordering textbooks easier and faster than ever and is only offered by Sequoia. The Cascade Ordering™ process is outlined below:
  • Select a sequence of wholesalers from which to order (unlimited number of wholesalers allowed)
  • Generate a want list and send it via EasyLink to the first wholesaler on the list
  • A response from the wholesaler is automatically processed, creating a confirmed purchase order with them. The remaining want quantities are electronically forwarded via EasyLink to the next wholesaler
  • Cycle is repeated until want list is filled or sent to all wholesalers in the user-specified sequence

Wholesaler Ordering

  • Ability to send orders via fax and EasyLink directly from your desktop
  • Two different ordering methods: Cascade® or Quote
  • Ability to specify Used Only, Quote New or Used Preferred, New Ok
  • Ability to segregate want lists alphabetically, by book grade, or by quantity needed
  • On-hand new text quantities can be ignored
  • Ability to globally limit used book purchases to a specified percentage or to specify used book limit on a book-by-book basis

Publisher/Distributor Ordering

  • Ability to send orders via fax or Pubnet directly from your desktop
  • Electronic responses from Pubnet which automatically update purchase orders
  • Pubnet updates on substitute ISBN notifications are automatically attached to the original ISBN that was ordered
  • Ability to generate orders for single or multiple vendors at one time
  • Ability to use order grading, which determines the type of company a book can be ordered from (Wholesales, Publishers, Distributors) to gain flexibility in obtaining hard-to-get titles
  • Ability to allow Publisher-altered book information to be automatically updated at the book level
